The Sunset Community Foundation serves the Lambton Shores and Huron County region in providing grants and stewardship to grow and support vibrant, healthy, diverse and economically sustainable communities.
In over 20 years of service as a community foundation, Sunset has contributed to organizations in fields from health and education to recreation and the environment, making grants totaling nearly $2 million. Thanks to the vision of our generous donors, the endowment has grown to more than $3 million.
Executive Director Opportunity
We are seeking a strategic leader with passion for developing and supporting our local communities, and who is relationship oriented in working collaboratively with partners, municipal leaders, and donors to execute on opportunities to further our impact.
This role reports to the Board of Directors and is a contract part-time role, renewable annually. This role can work remotely and flexibly. The ideal candidate should be prepared to serve in Lambton Shores and Huron County.
Expectations and Job Duties:
Leadership:
- Champion and execute the Foundation’s strategic priorities including:
- Building the endowment
- Broadening reach, growing relationships and partnerships, enhancing our reputation
- Listening with a diversity, equity and inclusion lens
- Creating and managing Foundation engagement events
- Maintaining knowledge and awareness of current regulatory and community foundation trends and issues
Marketing and Communication:
- Maintain accurate and timely communication with fundholders and Board members
- Maintain accurate and timely minutes of Board related meetings
- Manage the Foundation’s established communications channels including:
- Website, social media, annual reports, issues briefings, primary email contact
- Support Foundation donor funds with communications support including review and guidance of event promotions, media relations, branding, etc.
Financial:
- Under the direction of the Treasurer, ensure accurate and timely issuance of financial records including bank deposits, creating and issuing cheques, and preparing and issuing charitable tax receipts.
- Have skilled application of online Quick books
- Possess working knowledge of Excel
- Ensure timely and accurate financial reporting and activities in keeping the Foundation’s financial board policies.
