The Sunset Community Foundation’s annual community grant program is now available for applications from eligible organizations for projects and activities that improve the vitality of our communities within Lambton Shores and Huron County. The annual grant program will award up to $100,000 in addition to the $20,000 it has already granted in 2022.
“As a community foundation, we partner with leaders and advocates in the community to identify needs, arising issues, and opportunities within our local area. Since our inception over 20 years ago, we have donated $2.1 million, and in 2021 we granted $107,000,” says Chair Deb Gill. “Our committed board of directors stewards an endowment that has grown to $3.2 million.”
Grants Chair Dr. Jim Jean and a group of community representatives will review all the applications in mid-October with applicants being notified by early November. “We are continually impressed by the thoughtfulness and creativity of applicants in putting forward grant requests,” says Dr. Jim Jean. “We have funded projects and initiatives in the areas of environmental sustainability, food insecurity, accessibility, education, health, and technological support. We review all grants through the perspective of diversity, equity and inclusion.”
The Sunset Community Foundation welcomes grant applications up to September 30. General information and a simplified application form is available at www.sunsetcommunityfoundation.ca (click “Applying for a Grant”).
