As news outlets do their traditional look back at the year, it’s striking to see the number of natural disasters that have disrupted and taken lives across Canada in 2021. Images of wildfires and flooding in B.C. are an unforgettable part of the year.
We’ve known about climate change for 30 years. It’s only in recent years that we’ve seen drought, floods, hurricanes, wildfires and other natural disasters happening more and more often.
It’s easy to feel helpless and hopeless. But hope is the only way forward.
How can we be hopeful in the face of the climate crisis? By taking action, here and now. That’s what the Sunset Community Foundation Climate Action Fund is about. The Fund will support charities planning projects such as tree planting, conservation and restoration of natural areas, green energy education, electric vehicles charging stations, and more.
To donate to the Climate Action Fund in 2021 (and receive an official tax receipt for 2021), go to https://www.canadahelps.org/en/dn/7763 or contact Pat Morden, sunsetcommunityfoundation@gmail.com or 519-619-8630, by December 31.
