George Shaw was born in London and raised in Seaforth, Ontario. After completing high school and Grade 13, he earned his CPA designation in London and went on to serve as CFO for several construction companies over a 20-year career. He also worked with Deloitte in London as a designated trustee of bankruptcy, bringing extensive financial expertise to every role he undertook.

In his early 60s, George built a cottage in Beach Pines, initially as a summer retreat, and over the next 28 years, it became his permanent home in Grand Bend upon retirement. Alongside his wife, Sue, who retired from the Cancer Centre, George has been deeply involved in the community.

A lifelong Rotarian since December 17, 1957, George has never missed a meeting in 66 years. He is a founding director of the Sunset Community Foundation (Grand Bend Community Foundation), Grand Bend Health Centre (and Foundation), and South Huron Hospital (and Foundation), exemplifying a lifetime of leadership, service, and commitment to community.
